Microsoft Emphasizes Growing Importance of Artificial Intelligence for Windows

During AMD’s CES 2023 keynote, Panos Panay, the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, was invited onto the stage by AMD CEO Lisa Su. The discussion was mainly about AMD’s new AI-powered engine inside the new Ryzen 7000 series chips, and how this will help Microsoft usher in the next generation of AI-powered Windows.
Panay explained that AI is transforming industries, it is improving our daily lives in many ways and it is not always visible, adding that now the technology is at an inflection point as cloud computing is getting smarter, more personal, and able to harness the power of AI.
The Microsoft spokesperson also spoke about the next generation of Windows, anticipating that it will make more massive use of artificial intelligence that will completely reinvent the way Windows is used thanks to great generative models. As this type of processing requires a lot of computing power, the next generation of Windows will have to blur the lines between the cloud and Edge. Windows 12 may therefore be heavily integrated into the cloud when it comes to AI processing, which would also affect system requirements, although most devices will likely be equipped with dedicated hardware.
Artificial Intelligence is not new in Windows, but it will soon be more and more present, whether in Bing that it will be able to integrate ChatGPT, as well as Word, Outlook and even PowerPoint.
