Motorola Announces the Defy Satellite Link

The Motorola Defy Satellite Link is a compact and rugged credit-card-sized device that connects to any iOS or Android smartphone via Bluetooth 5.1, providing access to satellite messaging, location tracking, and SOS service. It is powered by a 600mAh battery and contains MediaTek’s 3GPP NTN-standard modem to support Bullitt Satellite Connect, as well as an eSIM and independent GPS. The device is transferable between phones and features a physical SOS and location ‘Check in’ button, enabling it to function independently from its paired smartphone.
Bullitt Satellite Connect makes use of GEO satellites operated by Inmarsat and EchoStar, with text messages and location information being relayed via a Skylo ground station and cellular or Wi-Fi internet connection. SOS assistance is provided by FocusPoint International, which manages 24/7 monitored response centers that handle emergency messages and assistance requests.
The Motorola Defy Satellite Link will be available in Q2 2023 at a price of $99 / €119 / £99 for the device only, or bundled with a one-year plan ranging from $149 / €169 / £149
