Twitter suspends accounts of several journalists who follow Elon Musk

Twitter suspended the accounts of several journalists who covered the social network and its new owner, Elon Musk. Some of the reporters tweeted about Twitter’s decision to suspend the @ElonJet account that automatically reported Elon Musk’s private jet routes.
Among the journalists suspended are employees of CNN, the New York Times or the Washington Post, as well as other independent journalists.
“The impulsive and unwarranted suspension of several reporters such as (CNN reporter) Donie O’Sullivan is disturbing but not surprising,” reacted in a press release from the American channel. “Twitter’s increasing instability and volatility is a particular concern for anyone using the platform. We have asked Twitter for an explanation and will re-evaluate our relationship based on that response,” CNN added.
Elon Musk tweeted last Wednesday that a car in Los Angeles with his son had been tracked by “a crazy stalker” and he seemed to point to the tracking of his private jet as the reason. He announced in this tweet that he would be suing the person behind the now suspended @ElonJet account.
Created by a student and followed by an estimated 500,000 people, @ElonJet used public data to automatically indicate when and where the SpaceX and Tesla boss’s device took off and landed.
Twitter later reported that its policy now banned most tweets that showed someone’s real-time location.”Posting someone’s real-time location violates doxing regulations, but posting offline is allowed,” tweeted Elon Musk this week. However, Elon Musk had promised not to touch the @ElonJet account when he reached the head of Twitter.
