If you’re struggling to find the right words while composing an email, text, or document on your mobile device, you don’t need to leave your draft to get help from Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT. Instead, you can use AI-powered third-party keyboards directly on your phone. Keyboards like Wordtune, Microsoft SwiftKey, and Grammarly offer features to help you write or rewrite text based on your input. Here’s a guide on how to use them.

Wordtune

Wordtune can generate or revise text based on your description. It’s available on the web and as an Add-in for Microsoft Word, but the iOS app might be the most convenient option.

The free version allows 10 rewrites per day, three summaries per month, and unlimited text corrections. For more features, you can upgrade to the Advanced ($13.99/month) or Premium ($19.99/month) versions.

Getting Started with Wordtune:

  1. Install the app on your iPhone.
  2. Open Settings, select Wordtune, tap Keyboards, and enable Wordtune and Allow Full Access.
  3. Open the app where you want to write, press the globe icon on the keyboard, and switch to Wordtune.

Creating Text with Wordtune:

  1. Ensure the tab is set to Create with AI, then tap Create and Start Now.
  2. Type a description of the content you need and tap the up arrow.
  3. Wordtune generates several text versions. Select one or revise your description if needed. Tap Insert to add the text to your app.

Rewriting Text with Wordtune:

  1. Write your draft using your regular keyboard, then switch to Wordtune.
  2. Tap Rewrite if it doesn’t jump to that section automatically.
  3. Select the text you want to revise. Wordtune offers rewritten sentences. Choose one or tap the double arrows for more options.
  4. You can tweak the style by selecting General, Casual, Formal, Shorten, or Expand. Insert the chosen version into your content.

Microsoft SwiftKey

Microsoft SwiftKey, available for iOS/iPadOS and Android, is a free AI keyboard with integrated Bing search, AI chat, and generative AI for text composition.

Setting Up SwiftKey:

  1. Install and open the app, then tap Get Started.
  2. On Android, enable SwiftKey in the On-screen keyboard settings. On iPhone/iPad, sign in with a Microsoft account and decide if you want to share typing data.
  3. Open an app where you want to write. On Android, tap the keyboard icon and set it to Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard. On iOS, press the globe icon and switch to SwiftKey.

Generating Text with SwiftKey:

  1. Tap the Bing icon in the toolbar and select Compose.
  2. Enter a description of the content you want in the Write about section.
  3. Choose a tone (Professional, Casual, Enthusiastic, Informational, or Funny) and format (paragraph, email, blog post, or ideas).
  4. Pick a length (Short, Medium, or Long) and tap Generate draft.
  5. SwiftKey creates a draft with suggestions for additions or changes. Incorporate these if desired.
  6. Tap Copy, return to your app, and paste the draft. Modify the text as needed before sending or saving it.

If you prefer starting with your own draft, write it first, then switch to SwiftKey and tap Copilot for assistance.
