Apple Music Launches Free Classical Music Streaming for Subscribers

Apple Music Classical is a new application produced by Apple that, as its name implies, is dedicated to classical music enthusiasts. The subject of discussions among enthusiasts for months, especially due to the continuous postponements of its launch, it represents the result of the acquisition of Primephonic, a classical music streaming service that the Cupertino company itself bought on August 30, 2021.

Now this App has arrived at the App Store, Apple Music Classical, a service that will be officially available from March 28th, but of which it is already possible to know several details.

What does Apple Music Classical include?

Simple, this is Apple’s application dedicated to classical music, and “classical” understood in the sense most commonly used by listeners, and by “secular” people (that is, who have not studied classical music and know how indigestible this definition is for real enthusiasts). However, the framework within which Apple Music Classical moves should be clear to everyone.

The first thing to know is that it offers a catalog of more than 5 million songs accessible for free, or better, without any additional cost for those who already pay for an Apple Music subscription (all except Voice). It goes up to 192 kHz/24 bit Hi-Res Lossless when it comes to audio quality; also featured on certain iconic albums, and spatial audio support with Dolby Atmos.

To make the catalog’s music easily enjoyable even for the less experienced, Apple Music Classical integrates several essential playlists, biographies of the most famous composers, detailed guides to the most important works and other navigation functions also common to other streaming services. You can search, for example, by composer or by conductor or director, by work or by catalog number.

For the rest, Apple Music Classical supports AirPlay on compatible wireless devices, uses full and accurate metadata to better support the user in the listening experience, and also integrates some Apple exclusives.

As far as compatibility is concerned, Apple Music Classical can be installed on all iPhones updated to at least iOS 15.4, not on other devices at least for now.
