Gboard: Google’s virtual keyboard wins dedicated version for tablets

Google is working on a new version of Gboard, its virtual keyboard, for Android tablets. Those who own a tablet certainly know the difficulties in typing when the device is in landscape mode, as the size of the screen makes it difficult to reach the central keys. And it is precisely here that Gboard’s bipartite keyboard comes into play: the solution studied by the research giant, which actually provides for the division of the keys on the right and left sides.
Through the appropriate option (“Split layout to include duplicate keys” ), found in the Settings menu, within the Preferences section and which is active by default, some letters will be present on both sides, so that you have the same number of buttons on each half.
When disabling this option, however, the left side appears with an extra brace on the second and third lines. And users can quickly switch between “Standard” and “Split Keyboard” options in one toolbar panel.
As far as it is possible to ascertain, this novelty has already been found by some users with the beta version 12.9.21 of Gboard and there is no information on when it will be implemented for everyone.
