Google releases the new ChromeOS 114

Google has commenced the rollout of ChromeOS 114, the newest iteration of its dedicated operating system for compatible Chromebooks. While this update introduces a range of fresh functionalities, it regrettably falls short of delivering two highly anticipated features to users: Material You and the inclusion of any streaming applications within the stable version.
About a month ago, Google released the then latest stable version of ChromeOS 113, bringing little news to Chromebooks, and the latest version of the operating system follows a similar path, introducing a small number of new features.
But what’s new in ChromeOS 114 anyway?
Let’s start with the first novelty, Google has added the Explore application to the application’s menu, to facilitate its use by users who until now needed to go to the appropriate section but Settings. By clicking on the application, you will be redirected to the same screen that can be accessed the usual way, a screen thanks to which we can discover, thanks to the appropriate section of applications and games, a whole series of software specifically optimized for Chromebook.
The ChromeOS 114 home screen does not change from the previous version and contains a whole series of useful tips and advice for users who are approaching this type of device for the first time; in addition, there is the classic section of News (always very little updated to tell the truth) and Advantages.
The second novelty concerns audio, the corresponding quick toggle has in fact been renewed, thanks to which it is now possible to carry out a whole series of operations, such as controlling the volume of the input and output devices, selecting the source and any reproduction and manager of more advanced features like noise cancellation (if your Chromebook supports it), without needing to go into settings.
Finally, speech synthesis features have been improved in ChromeOS 114, the ChromeVox feature that activates the voice reading function to use the device without having to look at the screen, can now indicate when a user has started to select text and concluded the selection of the latter thanks to the appropriate sound signals.
