Only 15.44 percent of PCs across the Globe have installed Windows 11

According to its latest ‘StatCounter’ report, which refers to the month of October, the market share of Windows 11 on computers equipped with the Microsoft operating system is 15.44%. An adoption rate that is rising very slowly. Windows 11 has been available for just over a year, and its first major update, 22H2, was recently released.

Currently, this means that less than one in six Windows PCs is running Windows 11. Noting that the Windows operating system market share on desktop computers is 75.93% (15.74% for macOS).

On Windows PCs, the latest version’s market share is second only to Windows 10 at 71.29%. The surprise is to note that Windows 7’s market share remains at 9.61%, undoubtedly benefiting from the ESU (Extended Security Updates) on the business side.

The period of early 2022 seems to have allowed Windows 11 to take off, but the trend has stalled in recent months. The conditions for an upgrade to this system (with the guarantee of receiving security updates) are arguably the main obstacle to rapid adoption.

For Windows 11, time will eventually do its work with the renewal of PCs equipped with the Microsoft operating system… unless the Redmond group repeats the surprise again with the launch of Windows 12.

During the publication of the group’s latest results, the Microsoft boss said that despite the drop in PC shipments during the third quarter, the use of Windows continues to grow.
