OTT a Nightmare for Entertainment
Elon Musk calls streaming services like Netflix ‘Distracted Boyfriend’
Elon Musk has sparked a debate on Twitter. In his new tweet, he has described streaming services OTT as a nightmare for entertainment. Along with this, Musk also told the problem of login system happening in the streaming service. Musk didn’t stop there, but he compared Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video and Paramount+ to The Pirate Bay while sharing the iconic memes of ‘Distracted Boyfriend’.
Musk has used boyfriend in memes to refer to users who were turned away from The Pirate Bay because of Netflix. But it seems people are getting interested in The Pirate Bay again
Netflix pioneered the streaming service for giving customers easy access to all the popular movies and shows. But the streaming market is no longer limited to just Netflix. Since its arrival in 2006, Amazon has spread its feet in the market with Prime Video. Now there is a big market of OTT platform. Disney has Disney+, Warner Media has HBO Max and Apple has Apple TV+.
So much competition is necessary from a market perspective. Also, there are enough options available at a lower price than this. Elon Musk is also explaining the same thing through his memes tweet.
Remembering Passwords A Tough Task
To access the OTT platform, the user has to manage his/her name, password. If you want extra security in your account, you will need to enable Two Factor Authentication (2FA) which you login with a passcode. Whereas it is not necessary to do so to access pirated movies.
Is it wrong to download pirated movies?
Musk has admitted that he now prioritizes pirating and that the glitch needs to be fixed for the streaming service to fix. And it could very well be that he is urging people to consider pirates again.
The Pirate Bay doesn’t need to go through so many processes just to stream or download movies. At the same time, ads coming in it can be stopped by activating the ad-blocker. Websites like BitTorrent offer an ad free experience with a premium membership.
Pirate movie has a big market
Websites that let you pirate movies and shows have a huge market. Just visit one website and you’ll find Marvel movies, Amazon Prime Video shows, Netflix Originals and more all in one place. On the other hand, you need multiple subscriptions for different streaming services. Some of them give you access to certain shows for free, but you have to pay to watch the locked content.
The growing customers of OTT platforms across the world shows that people are ready to make payments. But they want them to get as much access as possible for that. When OTT platforms seem like a nightmare to a popular personality like Musk. His tweet can influence people to switch to pirating again.
