Quick Important Online Dating Facts

There was once a time when only a handful participated in online dating. But with the release of Tinder, and other major dating apps, it has become more popular than ever before to meet people via the internet.

But before you jump into the online dating world, consider a few fast, interesting facts about the general culture. It may just make you rethink how to approach online dating, or if you even should enter into the online dating world at all.

Almost Everyone Lies

One of the most revealing facts first, a survey found that roughly 50% to 80% of everyone lies in their online dating profile. It was most commonly found that many women lied outright about their ages, while as many as 40% of men lied about their level employment. Additionally, it was found that weight, height and overall income were also generally lied about.

It Is Growing Rapidly

Even with all the lying, online dating is increasing rapidly in popularity. A study found that between 2012 and 2015, the average number of those aged between 18 and 24 that used online dating tripled. The average percent went from 10% to 27%. An equal climb in growth was seen with those aged 55 to 64, with numbers going from 6% to 12% over the same time period.

Ask A Friend

Tell your bestie to get off their backside and help with your profile, after they’re done at the live betting sites. Many do, according to research. It has been found that more than 1 out of every 5 ask a friend to help with their dating profile. But in that same regard, it’s mostly women that ask for help. 30% of ladies will ask a friend to help with a profile, while only 16% of men do the same.

One Big Family

If you don’t much like Tinder, and prefer OKCupid, guess what? They are both the same company anyway. Yes, one mega-corporation owns both. Called Match Group Inc, it must be an extremely wealthy organisation.

Having Fun

Co-founder of Tinder, Sean Rad, shared a very interesting thought during an interview. He boldly claimed that nobody joins Tinder because they are looking for anything in particular, but because they are looking to enjoy themselves. This may be a very broad statement to have made, but Sean probably knows what he’s talking about. At least to some extent.

Big Time Success

It is predicted that, on a daily basis, Tinder is responsible for roughly 40,000 first dates. That is a lot of potential true love, but who knows how many of those went on to have second dates?

Bold Claims

Founder of the online dating site, Gary Kremen, made a rather bold and controversial statement. He declared that his site will bring more love to the world than anything since Jesus Christ. An odd thing to say, though probably a statement made for the sake of gaining big publicity. It worked in regards to gaining that publicity, even if it wasn’t all exactly good publicity.
