Samsung’s Galaxy A54: A Professional Camera in Your Pocket?

Samsung is gearing up to launch its new Galaxy A54 smartphone and has been teasing significant innovations in its camera. The device has been touted to have a “professional level” camera, a marketing term that can be subjective. However, it suggests that Samsung has gone to great lengths to offer the best possible photographic quality in this price range. Samsung has been working on improving its smartphone camera technology, with the latest Galaxy S21 series featuring impressive camera capabilities. While it is not clear what specific features the Galaxy A54 will offer, it is expected to compete with other mid-range smartphones in the market. The company is set to make an official announcement soon, and it remains to be seen if the new camera technology will live up to the hype created by the teaser.

We already have several information available about the Galaxy A54, both in terms of the technical sheet and specifically for the camera. The rear units, as the teaser itself also shows, is made up of three sensors: a main one that is rumored to have a resolution of 48MP, a secondary 8MP ultra wide angle and the classic 2MP auxiliary sensor that can be dedicated to macro, depth or black and white.

In addition, Samsung itself has anticipated that the device will have optical stabilization on the main sensor, will support Single Take mode, in which the software automatically chooses the best image thanks to AI, and the advanced night mode of the latest generation Nightography. However, it is worth noting that both are also available on the predecessor of the A54, the current Galaxy A53. In fact, the A53 also has OIS on the main camera which has an even higher resolution i.e. 64MP. Furthermore, the resolution is often misleading data, and it’s not just that the more you increase it, the better the quality of the photos.

According to the latest rumors, the Galaxy A54 (and most likely other devices in the Galaxy A family, at least the A34) is expected to launch this month through a dedicated event.
