Olympic Gymnast Giorgia Villa’s Love for Parmesan Cheese Captivates the Internet
Italian Olympic gymnast Giorgia Villa is going viral after photos resurfaced of her holding wheels and wedges of Parmesan cheese. The 21-year-old athlete was sponsored by Parmigiano-Reggiano from 2021 to 2022.
The photos capture Villa performing gymnastic moves over the cheese wheels, including handstands and balance beam skills.
“Since I was a child, I’ve always loved this amazing product, a symbol of excellence and Italian culture, and being able to collaborate with them makes me extremely proud and excited to face future challenges,” she wrote in a translated caption on Instagram.
Although the partnership has ended, Parmigiano-Reggiano stated that the collaboration made sense because many athletes consider the cheese a “totally natural energy boost” and a delicious snack.
