Auckland Youth and Community Centre is an active, vibrant and diverse community hub in the heart of Woodhouse Close, one of England's most disadvantaged housing estates. We are situated one mile from Bishop Auckland town centre. Our Centre, which opened in 1964, supports local people of all ages and needs with a wide range of activities, interventions, learning experiences and events.
To provide the residents of the Parish of Audley with a Centre and focus where all can meet and where facilities in the interests of community welfare and for recreational and educational leisure-time occupation are available with the objective of enhancing the quality of life for residents.
To encourage men to discover the joy of singing and to develop the skills and ability to sing in a choir. To encourage and assist in the raising of funds for local charitable organisations in support of their local community activities.
Current activities:- Vocational courses provided by Newcastle-Under-Lyme College, community groups; young at hearts, upholstery & craft, painting and yoga. Centre available for private functions, annexe to building offering part-time post office facilities.
The Charity is run for the benefit of individuals & clubs in and around Aughton area.The Village Hall is available for hire by any individual (over the age of 18) or organisation, within the statement of standard hire agreement and scale of charges. Those charges are intended to meet all expenditure and to cover the repairs,renewals and maintenance of the hall.
