The group is run on a completely voluntary basis to offer Scouting opportunities to a diverse group of young people (aged 6 - 24) from the local community, including residential expeditions in various parts of the UK. The group are presently fundraising in order to modernise / rebuild the existing headquarters building, which is very old.

The 1st Oulton Broad Sea Scout Group is one of one hundred groups recognised by the Royal Navy within the United Kingdom. All aims & activities are as directed within the Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR) of the Scout Association.
